Spamfighter is a server based anti-spam software that integrates with MS Outlook, Outlook Express and Windows Mail. According to their webpage, SPAMfigther has more than 4,500,000 users around the world. There is a free version available. We tried it for a week in one of our emails account and this is our experience.

How it works?
When a new mail arrives, it is automatically checked by SPAMfighter servers and if it’s spam, it will be moved to a SPAMfigther folder created during installation. . If you receive a spam mail that is not detected, click a single button to get the sender’s address marked as spammer and all emails coming from that address will be sent automatically to your SPAM folder. If many other people mark same address as spammer it will be added to a black list in SPAMfigther servers and it will removed from the rest of SPAMfighters clients.
Installation
Installation and configuration process was pretty easy and quick. As usual, it starts with the user license agreement, then you have to set your installation directory and after all files are copied SPAMfigter client service is started and detected by our ActiveArmor (nVIDIA) Firewall.
We allow SPUS to connect to internet.
Configuration
Next step is cofigure our SPAMfighter installation using a 3 steps wizard.
First Step: Check Internet Connectivity. As we already granted internet access to SPAMfighter applicacion, we didn’t have any connectivity issues.
Second Step: Create a New SPAMfighter Account. Here you need to introduce some personal information and a valid email address which has to be confirmed
Third Step: Configure your white list. SPAMfigthter can import your email’s contacts list to make a local white list to avoid blocking non-spam emails.
After all those steps your installation is ready, it is recommended to restart your computer. Next time you run MS Outlook you will see SPAMfighter toolbar and a new SPAMfighter folder which will contain all spam detected.
If your one of your email message is nonspam and it was blocked, you can unblock it using the “UNBLOCK” button. However, if a spam email is not detected you can block it with toolbar too.
When you do a fresh installation, a free 30-days evaluation license is created, after those 30 days your trial of SPAMfighter PRO is downgraded to SPAMfighter Standard. Basically, with Standard edition you will have a short text ad displayed in your e-mail client, and an "I'm protected by SPAMfighter" message attached as a footer to your outgoing e-mails
Results.
We used an 5 years old emal account wich receives from 30 to 50 SPAM emails daily. We tried SPAMfighter with MS Outlook 2003 during a week and we got an incredibly an average detection rate of 86%. Our inbox was long way cleaner thanks to SPAMfighter.

SPAMfighter can achieve those wonderful results because it is an anti-spam solution based on black lists and not just in content filtering. The only downside of SPAMfighter is that it can slow down the retrieve email process because it has to check email by email but it is just unnoticeable with broadband internet connection.
